1. Sabarna Roy Chowdhury Aatchala, Barisha

Established in 1610, this is considered Kolkata’s oldest family Durga Puja. The Sabarna Roy Chowdhury family once owned the villages of Sutanuti, Gobindapur, and Kalikata, which later became Kolkata.

2. Behala Jagat Ram Mukherjee Bari

Famous for its “Sonar Durga” or Golden Durga, this heritage Puja began in 1769 and is known for its unique golden idol and traditional rituals.

3. Bhukailash Rajbari, Khidderpore

Founded by Raja Jaynarayan Ghoshal in the 18th century, this royal Durga Puja is celebrated within one of Kolkata’s historic palace complexes.

4. Sovabazar Rajbari

Started in 1757 by Raja Nabakrishna Deb after the Battle of Plassey, this iconic Bonedi Bari Puja welcomed British officials like Robert Clive and remains one of Kolkata’s most famous heritage Pujas.

5. Pathuriaghata Khelat Ghosh Bari

Known for its magnificent thakur dalan, Belgian chandeliers, and classical music heritage, this 170-year-old Puja showcases North Kolkata’s aristocratic grandeur.

6. Jhamapukur Chandra Bari

Established in 1761, this family Puja features a rare idol of Goddess Durga seated on Lord Shiva’s lap instead of the traditional Mahishasuramardini form.

7. Shobhabazar & Jorasanko Daw Bari

The Daw family Puja is famous for its gold ornaments, traditional daaker saaj, and the unique cannon salute offered during Sandhi Puja.

8. Chhatu Babu Latu Babu Bari
